Säätiön esittely / About Foundation

Kunnallisalan kehittämissäätiö perustettiin vuonna 1990. Peruspääoman, 80 miljoonaa markkaa, lahjoitti silloinen Suomen Kunnallisliitto.

Peruspääoma oli peräisin vuonna 1989 myydystä Kunnallispainosta. Säätiön toiminta rakentuu pelkästään pääoman sijoitustuotolle.

Säätiö toimii täysin itsenäisesti.

Kunnallisalan kehittämissäätiö rahoittaa kuntia palvelevaa tutkimustoimintaa. Tavoitteena on näin tukea kuntien itsehallintoa ja parantaa niiden toimintamahdollisuuksia. Säätiön toiminta suuntautuu hankkeisiin, joiden merkityksen arvioimme kuntien tulevaisuuden kannalta kaikkein keskeisimmiksi.

Säätiö myöntää hakemuksista rahoitusta tutkimushankkeisiin ja apurahoja tutkijoille.

Säätiöllä on Polemiikki-niminen asiakaslehti ja kaksi julkaisusarjaa: Polemia-sarja, Tutkimusjulkaisut-sarja ja Julkaisut-sarja.

Säätiön toimisto toimii Helsingissä.

Säätiöllä on 16-jäseninen hallitus. Kehittämissäätiöllä on myös tieteellinen neuvottelukunta.

About Foundation

The Foundation for Municipal Development was founded in 1990. The original capital, 80 million Finnish marks, was donated by the then Suomen Kunnallisliitto.
